Socomec Expands Investment in South Korea’s AI Data Center Power Market
What happened
French power solutions provider Socomec plans to increase its investment in South Korea, expanding its power infrastructure business with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and the semiconductor industry. Socomec Korea said on Nov. 6 that it held its "2026 Designer Day Korea" event at the JW Marriott Hotel in Seoul on Nov. 5, attended by representatives of domestic data center developers, architectural design firms and engineering companies. At the event, Socomec introduced next-generation power supply technologies for AI data centers and high-efficiency power system designs, and unveiled DELPHYS XL+, a new uninterruptible power supply (UPS) incorporating silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors, designed to address rising power density in data centers as high-performance GPU servers become more widespread. Socomec has been expanding its South Korean operations since appointing Yu Gi-tae, an engineer with more than 20 years of power infrastructure experience, as country manager in April. The company plans to strengthen its sales and service organizations focused on data centers and the semiconductor industry, expand technical support for domestic customers, and broaden its power solutions business into biotechnology and advanced industrial facilities. Wai Tai Yeap, Socomec's Asia-Pacific managing director, called South Korea an important strategic market for data centers and digital infrastructure and said the company will build long-term partnerships with Korean customers and expand investment and support. This investment expansion is in a planned state and has not yet been implemented.
