Samyang Unveils Ultrapure Water Ion Exchange Resin for Next-Generation Semiconductors

What happened

Samyang Corp. unveiled an ultrapure water ion exchange resin for next-generation semiconductor manufacturing at its TRILITE DAY 2026 event on Oct. 28, held in the auditorium on the first floor of its headquarters in Jongno, Seoul. The new MaxPurity UPRM500U is used in the final purification stage of ultrapure water production; compared with the previous UPRM400U product, the company significantly reduced impurities within the resin, cutting sodium content by 94% and lowering the concentrations of eight metals, including iron, calcium and magnesium. About 70 employees and executives from water treatment customers attended. Samyang also unveiled New TriAngle, its proprietary AI-based integrated water treatment design software: by entering parameters such as treatment flow rate, raw water conditions and operating time, users receive an AI-generated recommendation for an optimal water treatment process meeting target water quality requirements within one minute, covering ion exchange resins as well as reverse osmosis (RO) and electrodeionization (EDI); Samyang said it is the first company to develop such an integrated analysis solution. The event was organized to introduce products meeting increasingly stringent ultrapure water standards in semiconductor manufacturing amid advances in AI and growing demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM). Cho Young-do, head of Samyang's WS Performance Unit (PU), said the purity of every individual ion exchange resin bead must be controlled and the company will accelerate commercialization to contribute to domestic production, adding that New TriAngle will shorten the design period for water treatment systems.
