[Insights] Memory Spot Price Update: NAND Price Cuts Accelerate Amid China Phone Discounts; 512Gb TLC Sink 9.19%
What happened
According to TrendForce's latest memory spot price trend report, in NAND Flash, some Chinese smartphone brands faced a sudden halt in market demand after raising their prices in September; to accelerate inventory clearance, the brands collectively lowered prices during the Double 11 promotions to stimulate consumption. The spot market was quickly impacted by this reversal in sentiment, prompting sellers to adopt a more aggressive selling stance and intensify price reductions, and spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers dropped 9.19% this week (October 26), with average quotations arriving at US$16.883. In DRAM, branded DDR4 and DDR5 chips saw limited transactions this week driven by demand from specific orders, nudging prices slightly higher for certain chips; however, as a typhoon impacted certain regions and overall demand stayed weak, the upward price-chasing momentum failed to carry through and transaction volumes did not increase noticeably. The average spot price of mainstream chips (DDR4 1Gx8 3200MT/s) increased by 0.55% from US$46.79 last week (October 21) to US$47.04 this week (October 27).
