QRT, KAERI Partner on Semiconductor Radiation Reliability Testing
What happened
QRT said on Oct. 26 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) to advance radiation effects testing and radiation reliability technologies for semiconductors and electronic components. Over the next five years, QRT and KAERI will verify the radiation tolerance and reliability of semiconductors and electronic components used in high-radiation environments, including space, aviation and defense applications, and collaborate on technology transfer and commercialization of their joint research results. The partnership covers radiation effects testing, research into testing and evaluation technologies using high-energy particle beams such as protons, neutrons, electrons and gamma rays, joint use of research facilities and equipment including proton accelerators, and joint planning and execution of national R&D projects and industry-academia-research collaboration programs. QRT said the partnership is significant because it combines KAERI's research infrastructure with the company's testing capabilities.
