Nvidia's Huang: Don't mention the AI-pocalypse

What happened

At Nvidia's GTC event in Berlin, CEO Jensen Huang dismissed predictions of human extinction from AI, defended AI's job prospects, and pitched a $4,000 computer as the family robot. He claimed the AI datacenter boom has already created a million jobs in the United States, saying 'AI makes jobs, and hopefully doesn't take jobs.' Asked about Barclays Bank's announcement that same morning that it is chopping 5,000 workers and relying more on AI, he argued that technological change has always displaced some jobs while creating others. As financial background, Nvidia reported $215.9 billion in revenue for fiscal 2026 and $120 billion in net profit; in the first half of its fiscal 2027, those net profits were already close to the prior year's. Huang also put the price of licensing Nvidia's software stack at about $2,000 per GPU annually. The DGX Spark system he demonstrated contains a chip called N1X with 128 gigabytes of memory and is priced at $4,000. The source does not state the cause (the report is commentary on statements, with no single event cause).
