Intilion, CATL to deploy 3GWh sodium-ion energy storage in Europe
What happened
Intilion and CATL have signed an MoU with the aim of deploying 3 GWh of CATL's TENER energy storage systems across Germany, Switzerland, Austria and other markets over the next five years, serving both utility-scale and commercial and industrial (C&I) applications. According to CATL, the TENER system, designed for Europe's cold climates, delivers over 15,000 charge-discharge cycles and a service life of up to 25 years, and maintains high discharge power at temperatures as low as -20°C. Since 2022, the two companies have deployed more than 30 energy storage projects in Germany, and they aim to advance diverse battery technologies, including sodium-ion and lithium-ion, across Europe. The deployment remains a plan under an MoU and has not been completed.
