Murata shrinks RF test connector footprint
What happened
Murata has introduced the SWL MM8330-2600, an RF/microwave coaxial test connector measuring 1.0×1.0×0.55 mm with an integrated mechanical switch, one of the industry's smallest of its kind. Compared with the previous SWJ connector, it reduces PCB mounting area by approximately 40%; when used with dedicated probes, the total PCB footprint including the keep-out area is reduced by approximately 60% compared with the SWJ. The connector operates from DC to 15 GHz with a nominal impedance of 50 Ω, and its internal mechanical switch separates the RF and antenna circuits, allowing measurements without mutual interference when used with a dedicated Murata probe. Applications include output inspection of internal circuits in compact, high-density devices such as mobile phones, wearables, and smart watches. The SWL MM8330-2600 is now in production; dedicated probes are scheduled to enter mass production in December 2026.
