South Korea aims to speed up chip fab openings by two years
What happened
South Korea plans to bring new semiconductor fabs into operation at least two years ahead of schedule by speeding up construction approvals and infrastructure development, Yonhap reported on November 2. The government's stated aim is to support KRW1,600 trillion (approx. US$1.2 trillion) in planned private investment. The plan remains at the planning stage as a government policy intention; no fab has actually been brought online early as a result.
