Global Technology to Hold Automotive and Display Tech Symposium in Shenzhen
What happened
Global Technology announced on Nov. 2 that it will hold the "GT Tech Symposium 2026" in Shenzhen, China, from Nov. 3 to 5, to introduce automotive semiconductors and display driver ICs to local customers. The event will be co-hosted by Hyundai Mobis and China's DR Group, with Austria's TriLite also participating; DR Group will be responsible for identifying local customers and organizing the event. Global Technology plans to showcase its automotive LED driver ICs (LDIs) incorporating time-sharing operation (TSO) technology, which enables a single LDI channel to drive multiple LEDs at different times and can reduce the number of driver ICs required to achieve the same image quality by approximately two-thirds; the technology has been applied to RGB miniLED backlights for TVs and is being expanded to automotive applications including instrument clusters, center information displays (CIDs) and head-up displays (HUDs). The company will also exhibit the ID804 smart LED for ambient lighting, jointly developed with Hyundai Mobis and currently in mass production, along with automotive CAN FD transceivers; Hyundai Mobis will introduce power semiconductors, battery management chips and automotive network communication semiconductors to Chinese customers. Global Technology will also showcase automotive laser projection technology with TriLite; the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding in October to cooperate on automotive laser beam scanning (LBS) projection and are conducting a proof of concept (POC) for door projection, with TriLite responsible for the optical engine and Global Technology handling the driver circuitry, modules and vehicle interface design. In the display segment, Global Technology will introduce backlight unit (BLU) bars for RGB miniLED TVs and microLED driver ICs, while pursuing supply opportunities with TV manufacturers in Greater China.
