BAE Systems to expand manufacturing capabilities in Colorado

What happened

BAE Systems announced that it has closed on the purchase of a 130,000 square-foot production facility in Weld County, Colorado, located on approximately 13 acres, which will enhance the company's manufacturing capabilities to meet customer demand and business growth related to space-based hardware and sensor systems. The company expects to hire more than 200 new employees to support production at the new Weld County facility over the next 12 to 24 months, and estimates that at full capacity the new facility could feature approximately 600 employees. BAE Systems plans to begin the retrofit process of the facility and procuring equipment throughout the rest of the year and anticipates opening the facility for production in early 2028. The expansion, hiring figures and opening date are plans/estimates, with the opening date an expectation rather than a completed event.
