Vinatech Secures 240 Billion Won in Data Center Supercapacitor Orders in Three Days
What happened
Vinatech disclosed on Oct. 21 that it signed a 119.4 billion won contract with India's Sanmina to supply supercapacitors for data centers; the contract equals approximately 145.3% of the company's consolidated revenue of 82.2 billion won in 2025 and runs through Dec. 23, 2027. On Oct. 19, Vinatech also signed a 123 billion won supercapacitor supply contract with Taiwan's AcBel Polytech, bringing the two contracts to approximately 242.5 billion won, nearly three times the company's 2025 annual revenue. As of Oct. 19, orders from AcBel Polytech, U.S. fuel cell company Bloom Energy and Sanmina totaled 229 billion won; including the latest contract, the total rises to approximately 348.5 billion won, more than four times the company's 2025 revenue. The source states that demand for supercapacitors is rising as power requirements increase at AI data centers: AI servers consume large amounts of electricity in short bursts when numerous GPUs perform computations simultaneously, and supercapacitors can rapidly supply or absorb electricity, making them useful as auxiliary power sources to manage sudden fluctuations in data center power demand. Vinatech has secured a series of data center supercapacitor supply contracts since late June.
