HanWool Semiconductor Upgrades Inspection Equipment for Japanese MLCC Maker
What happened
HanWool Semiconductor announced on Oct. 12 that it won a contract from a Japanese MLCC maker to upgrade the AI capabilities of its visual inspection equipment, marking an expansion of its inspection equipment business overseas. The company plans to add AI functions to existing equipment abroad, increase performance upgrade projects, and seek to supply new inspection equipment as customers expand capacity. HanWool has long supplied inspection equipment to a major South Korean MLCC maker and developed its proprietary HaWAIe AI inspection platform, which in tests achieved over 13,000 units per minute inspection speed and about 98% defect detection accuracy. A market research firm forecasts the global MLCC visual inspection equipment market will grow to about 2.87 trillion won by 2032 from 1.26 trillion won last year, a CAGR of 12.6%. An official said MLCC supply shortages are prompting global manufacturers to invest in capacity expansion and yield improvement.
